Capital Scandal proved to be a huge success with an overwhelming response from netizens as they flooded the drama's homepage with an average of 2500 viewer comments per episode and on one occasion, bringing down the server. Director Han Joon Suh (The Immortal Lee Soon Shin) casts Han Ji Min (Super Rookie), Han Ko Eun (Lawyers), Kang Ji Hwan (90 Days, Time To Love), and Ryu Jin (Love Truly) in this period fusion drama that combines romance and politics during the darkest era of Korean history - the Japanese occupation. Chungmuro's new sensation, Han Ji Min stars as a feisty independence fighter. Her counterpart, Kang Ji Hwan, departs from his usual clean image to play a Casanova. But it was Han Ko Eun's realistic portrayal of a geisha that graced much of the headlines with reviews comparing her performance to the likes of the real-life geisha Hwang Jin Yi, awarding the actress long-awaited recognition.
Capital Scandal centers around Kyungsung, the capital of Korea during the decade characterized by political war between freedom fighters and pro-Japanese followers, and cultural clashes between traditional moralists and progressive thinkers. Sunwoo Wan (Kang Ji Hwan), a Tokyo-educated brat and Kyungsung's leading playboy with an undisputed record, meets the match of his life when he runs into Na Yeo Kyung (Han Ji Min), a spunky independence fighter with a strong set of traditional values. To Wan, Yeo Kyung represents only one thing: his next conquest. But what started as a mindless game ultimately changes Wan for good. His pretentiousness slowly evolves into genuine love for Yeo Kyung. His torment over winning her affection turns into a cry for the lost nation. And in the end, his decadence transforms into his own fight for independence. Capital Scandal beams bright despite the darkness that was cast over the nation in the 1930s.

1930년대 경성.
